CARS – DELIVERY

OVERVIEW

There are several potential problems that can arise during the delivery process. Some common issues include:

THE PROBLEM – OUR HYPOTHESIS

OVERVIEW – WHAT WE WANT TO IMPROVE

The problems associated with the deliveries of goods. The user has to be present at home/office, in a time interval and there are delays in deliveries, failed deliveries, …

We propose to create a delivery service in the trunk of the user’s car, so the client does not have to be aware of the process.

BENEFITS

By providing clients with a new service to deliver their shopping and improve the delivery experience, users will be able to receive it without waiting which results in a better experience.

THE SOLUTION

We present a new service: in-car Delivery, which allows fast and very comfortable deliveries directly to the car: The delivery company will be able to leave the packages in the trunk of the user’s car without he is being present. Based on the use of smart keys, through which the courier can have a unique access code to the trunk of customers’ cars and leave orders directly in the car.

The user will only have to drive back home, and their packages will already be in the trunk.

To request it, all the user has to do is configure an application with which the car in which he wants to receive the order will be linked with a single access for the delivery person. The courier will ask for some extra information such as the brand, model, and color of the car.

As soon as the user allows access to his car, he will be able to have full control of the delivery operation, and for example, block access to the car at any time through the application, as a security and precautionary measure.

Accessing some of the most recent models without the need for a key, the courier will have temporary (and single-use) authorization to open the customer’s trunk.

PRODUCT DESIGN PROCESS

ROADMAP

We made a high-level roadmap, that outlines the steps and milestones that will be achieved in order to create the successful user experience for the product. It includes a timeline of key events and deadlines, as well as a list of the key features and functionalities that will be developed.

Working closed with Technical Team, stakeholders, clients, and other departments.

RESEARCH & BENCHMARK

The goal is to discover what the users think about this new type of navigation. To get a good data-gathering we made a research tasks such as Interviews, surveys, and field studies, …

Direct research has been created (drivers) interviewing them, and we focus on an indirect research to apply similar functionalities (video games, motorsport races, Google glasses, …).

USER TESTING

We made a user testing in a motorsport event in the Jarama circuit. We interview several drivers and ask them about the new feature, testing by real users. through focus groups, and by observing users as they interact with the new interface.

From the insights we gained from potential user interviews and research, we could map interactions, making it clear how customers use the search functionalities.

We had very good feedback, it exceeded expectations.
